Verizon's European Partner, Vodafone, Sells $11B Stake In French Provider SFR

A flurry of big deals have rocked the telecommunications sector recently, with the latest action coming from Europe where Vodafone agreed to sell its 44% stake in France’s second largest mobile phone company, SFR, to Vivendi for a total of €7.95 billion (about $11.3 billion).  The deal, only a few weeks after Deutsche Telekom sold out of the U.S. market as AT&T picked up T-Mobile, marks Vodafone’s strategic disposal of assets and further consolidation in the European market, as Vivendi will own 100% of SFR.
